Dear Friends:
The Cizik Eye Clinic was founded 29 years ago on principles
which remain the same today:
|
To
provide the best eye care possible in a personalized setting |
|
To act
as a center for the referral of difficult cases |
|
To care
for indigent patients with serious eye problems |
|
To teach
ophthalmology at all levels |
|
To be
innovative in diagnosis and treatment |
|
To make
a flexible environment capable of adapting to change |
|
To develop
basic and clinical research programs |
|
To provide
patient education, rehabilitation and social counseling |
|
To be
fiscally responsible |
Funds were
contributed by numerous individuals and foundations enabling the
Eye Center to open in 1977. Since then, the Center has resided
within Memorial Hermann Hospital; however, now the hospital needs
our space for patient rooms. Plans are underway for the Eye Center
to move to a new location in the Memorial Hermann Medical Plaza
being developed across Fannin Street from the hospital. The new
Eye Center will provide easy access with convenient parking and
be designed specifically to serve eye patients, support research
and train ophthalmologists.
The
Vision for the Future campaign intends
to raise $8.5 million.
 |
One
and a half million dollars to build-out and furnish the new
facility |
 |
Five
million dollars will be dedicated to underwrite the cost to
continue and expand our mission of indigent care, teaching
and research |
 |
Two million
dollars to endow a new position of Director of Clinical Research
in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at The
University of Texas Medical School at Houston |
I am proud
of our accomplishments over the last 29 years. I hope you will
share our Vision for the Future and consider a generous
gift so that the Eye Center
can continue to be a world leader in ophthalmology, vision research,
patient care and education.
Sincerely,
Richard S. Ruiz, M.D.
