Malcolm L. Mazow, MD Dr.
Mazow is the Walter and Ruth Sterling Professor of Ophthalmology
at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He was educated
in the Houston public school system, The University of Texas,
and the University of Houston, where he received a Bachelor of
Science degree in 1956. He attended medical school at The University
of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston (UTMB) and graduated in 1961.
His internship in general medicine at the University of Iowa introduced
him to Hermann Burian, MD, who would become Dr. Mazow’s
mentor during his subsequent ophthalmologic training there. Dr.
Mazow returned to Texas to begin his career in ophthalmology.
He became an assistant professor at UTMB and Director of Ophthalmology
at the United States Public Health Service Hospital in Galveston.
Dr. Mazow returned to Houston to join a combined academic and
private practice, Houston Eye Associates. He was appointed Clinical
Associate Professors in Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine
and currently holds appointments as Clinical Professor in Pediatrics
and Ophthalmology at The University of Texas Medical School at
Houston. Dr. Mazow has been recognized for his contributions to
the development of educational programs by the American Academy
of Ophthalmology and the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology
and Strabismus.
In addition
to terms as President of the Houston Ophthalmological Society,
the American Orthoptic Council, and the American Association for
Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, he has served as a commissioner
for the joint Commission for Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology.
He also was invited to membership in the Squint Club and the prestigious
American Ophthalmological Society. |
